Petts Wood Poppy Appeal 2024
Both the Branch and Club Committee Members have received queries from Poppy Appeal volunteers as to when they will be notified of the sums they have collected.
As you were informed earlier, the 2024 PW Poppy Appeal was organised by a new PA Organiser elected by the Regional Poppy Appeal Manager, London (RPAM, L) and not the Petts Wood Branch. We have passed on your queries to the RPAM, L and they replied-
‘The reporting of collection figures follows the RBL’s national procedures. There is no obligation to provide a detailed breakdown to branches. However, as a courtesy, I will share a summary of the collection figures with you once all funds, including those from supermarkets, have been fully processed—this is expected by April.’
Katie Vincent, Regional Poppy Appeal Manager, London
‘A summary,’ would not appear to be the detailed total for each collection box that the Branch PA provided in the past. To date it has not been received. We will keep you informed.

Petts Wood Poppy Appeal 2024
The Branch Committee and Members have received a considerable number of complaints from: the public, RBL volunteers and representatives of local churches, shops and supermarkets, regarding this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Complaints include; the lack of poppies etc available on stalls, the absence of contactless payment machines and the absence of any volunteers manning the stalls. These complaints were passed on to the new Poppy Appeal Organiser (PAO) as and when received.
The RBL Community Fund Raising Team, recruit and appoint Poppy Appeal Organisers, not the Petts Wood Branch. Due to a vacancy, a new PAO was elected this year by RBL, the Branch was not involved. Obviously, the Appeal has not gone well, the Branch will make efforts to have this rectified for the future by contacting the RBL Community Fund Raising Team.
